School Council
Important Date – September 20, 2011 @ 7:30pm
School Council Organizational Meeting
St. Joe’s School Council needs some executive positions filled:
- Chairperson, Vice Chairperson (or Co-Chairs)
- Secretary
School council is an advisory body to the school and participates in School Based decisions. It is the Parent voice of students attending the school.
We are members of the Alberta School Council Association which is a governing body and the collective Parent voice for students attending school in Alberta. We are supported with an annual spring parent confer
ence and AGM. Topics voted on and brought directly to the Minister of Education include school fees, weighing of diploma exams, basics provided when a school is built or renovated. The powerful collective voice sends a strong message to initate change.
Meetings are every month excluding December and June and held the third Tuesday of the month at 7:30. There are 3 district wide meetings in the school year.
This is an exciting year for St. Joe’s, the wellness centre is open, the new STRIVE program is set to start soon, and the success of advanced and pre advanced placement coursed for students. All these and more require Parental Support from School Council to ensure success.
Any questions please contact Janine Morgan at jtmorgan63@hotmail.com. I am unable to continue my role in school council as I do not have a student enrolled in the school. I will and can assist in the transition phase for a new Chair, Vice, or Co-Chairs, if needed.
We are not a fundraising school council.
